A new take on a traditional fall favorite, my Chai Spiced Apple Crisp combines gorgeous chai flavors with apples, topped with a decadent, crunchy and buttery topping.
This easy apple crisp is one of my childhood favorites. There is nothing quite like the smell of this baking in the oven. Mum would typically make this ahead, and throw it in the oven “while it’s on” after making a good Sunday roast dinner for my family.
Lashings of whipping cream, a dollop of whipped cream or a more-than-generous sized scoop of a good vanilla ice-cream, and I was in heaven.
Apple Crisp is something that EVERYONE loves, and begs for as soon as apple season hits, the leaves turn and the weather requires long sleeved t-shirts (I’m in Phoenix, we’re less about Ugg boots and big wool coats, and more about trading our regular t-shirts for long sleeved ones, and our shorts for jeans).

Why you’ll love this recipe
This recipe is SO easy to throw together, you’ll find yourself making this over and over throughout fall!
Make this ahead – toss the apples with a little lemon before adding the sugar/flour/cinnamon. This will prevent the apples from browning. Don’t add the topping until ready to bake.
Frequently Asked Questions
There’s a very long-winded explanation. However, I like to keep things pretty simple. Apple Crumble doesn’t have oats. Apple Crisp does. The End.
You could use a mix of tart and sweet apples, like Granny Smith and Honeycrisp, or all of one or the other.
It could easily be adapted to be! Use certified gluten-free oats and a gluten-free flour blend for the topping.
Vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and caramel sauce are all great options.
Kylee’s Notes
Slice the apples in even slices, so they bake evenly. Not TOO thin!
Let the baked dish rest for at least 10 minutes after you take it out of the oven. It allows the sauce a chance to thicken up.
If you find that your oven runs hot, or the crisp is starting to burn, cover the dish with foil until the apples are tender.
What to do with leftovers
Store at room temperature: Cool, cover tightly and store for 1-2 days.
Store in the refrigerator: Cool, cover tightly or use an airtight container and store for up to a week.
Reheat: Reheat individual portions in the microwave for about 30-60 seconds or until warm. If reheating a larger amount, you may want to do so in an oven preheated to 350°F (175°C) for about 10–15 minutes or until heated through.
