Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! Just remove from the refrigerator a few minutes before serving so it is more easily scoopable.
Absolutely- it does not contain eggs at all, it’s completely safe. Dig in!
The mini ones work best in this recipe. Bigger ones tend to make it harder to scoop. We can’t have THAT.
What to serve with Dessert Dips
Fruit. Choose cut up apples, strawberries, grapes.
Cookies. Graham crackers (I use both the honey graham crackers and chocolate graham crackers), vanilla wafers or double it up and use mini chocolate chip cookies.
Pretzels. I love a sweet and salty combo! The regular kind of pretzels are great, as well as the smushed ones (called pretzel thins), or the rods.
I have included step-by-step photos and instructions, as well as tips and tricks in the post. If you’d rather skip all that, scoot right on down to the full recipe card located at the bottom of the post.
Kylee’s Notes
Don’t leave the dip out at room temperature for extended periods, especially during summer as it may spoil.
Place a bowl of ice underneath your serving bowl to keep it fresher longer.
What to do with leftovers
Store leftover cookie dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Recipe Ingredients and Possible Substitutes
The full list of ingredients and quantities is found in the printable recipe card below.
- Cream cheese. Full fat or reduced fat are equally good here. Because we’re beating the cream cheese until fluffy, you won’t notice if you save a few calories!
- Butter. I use salted butter.
- Powdered sugar. Also known as icing sugar or confectioner’s sugar, pack this into the cup!
- Brown sugar. This is important for that “cookie dough” flavor and texture.
- Vanilla. Use pure vanilla extract for the best flavor!
- Salt. Not just for savory dishes, salt can help balance sweetness in desserts.
- Chocolate chips. Use the mini chocolate chips, the bigger ones are just too big! Milk chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips or chunks both work deliciously.
Recommended Equipment/Tools
- Mixing bowl.
- Hand mixer or electric stand mixer, fitted with the paddle attachment.
- Spatula.
- Measuring cups and spoons.
- Serving platter. Choose one big enough to hold a bowl of dip and all the different dippers.
